Ladies and Gentlemen...
The other evening, Monorail film club showed Ladies and Gentlemen, The Fabulous Stains (Lou Adler, 1981) at the GFT. Starring Diane Lane (The Outsiders, Rumble Fish), Laura Dern (Blue Velvet, Wild At Heart), Ray Winstone (Scum, Sexy Beast) - as well as Steve Jones and Paul Cook from the Sex Pistols and The Clash's Paul Simonon - it tells the story of 3 teenage girls who, dissatisfied with their lives, start a punk band called The Stains who carry the motto "We Don't Put Out!".
Lead character Corrine Burn's costumes and hairstyle, which quickly become slavishly imitated by the band's legion of female fans calling themselves 'Skunks', are but a few of the things that helped make the film acquire a cult following of its own, with fans such as Courtney Love and the underground filmmaker Sarah Jacobson. If you haven't seen The Fabulous Stains, I urge you to hunt down a copy NOW.

Writer and DJ Princess Julia has been a colourful and chameleon-like fixture on the London club scene since Steve Strange installed her in the cloakroom at The Blitz and she became one of the original Blitz Kids, brightening up the city's nightlife with their outlandish costumes and make-up. By night she partied with Marc Almond and Boy George, while by day she worked in PX, a cult New Romantic boutique in Covent Garden.
Her appearance in the video for Visage's single Fade to Grey was followed by a stint of modelling for designers such as BodyMap, working in the UK and Japan.Julia then launched her career as a DJ, playing monthly spots at Kinky Gerlinky and going on to guest at events all over the UK. Her name is Rio...
Patrick Nagel was an American artist famous for his Deco-inspired fashion illustrations of beautiful women.
His style was influenced in equal parts by the perspectives and line work of Japanese woodcuts and the poses and glamour of Art Deco muses.
He completed the picture which was to appear on Duran Duran's Rio album in 1982, only 2 years before his sudden death at the age of 38.
Sunglasses After Dark
Amazing shoot from Harper's Bazaar Korea.
I love EVERYTHING about this - the hair, the sunglasses, the jacket, the jewels, the lips...
Perfect alternative to all of the shitty 'beach babe' editorials you see around this time of the year. Summer after Summer you get hideously bored of sunkissed bitches lying around pools or running in the sand wearing floaty dresses. If you live in the city, as I do, this kind of shoot is twenty times more relevant. Not to mention that I'd look like queen of the idiots bouncing around some sunny shore in sandals and a kaftan. More of this, less of that.
And thank you HB Korea xxx

I've wanted these eyeball rings for ages, anybody know where I can buy some? I used to have an eyeball necklace as a teenage goth, proof that you should NEVER throw anything out.
I wish I was old enough to dress like this in the 80s.
This is going to be my new look. GOLD LIPSTICK, gold everything.
I find the face on her shorts incredibly creepy, but aside from that everything is so right.
